Jack Ma, the Executive Director, Alibaba Group was in my Alma mater, the University of Nairobi on July, 20, 2017 and shared some tips on success. Retirement is one thing that appear to be farfetched. Nobody talks about it. Many young people laugh it off. According to many youngsters, retirement age will never reach. They live in the fallacy that they will be young forever, which apparently is not true. Read More
Celebrity life can be enjoyable to many a person. In fact, many people admire celebrity lifestyle. Let’s admit it. They have many fans or should I say followers. They enjoy special treatment in hotels, airports and in social places. I have personally seen how fans scramble to take photos with Yvonne Okware Matole and Eric Omondi, when they came to the University of Nairobi, Main Campus. Many celebrities live their life on the fast line. They have the money, the influence, the power and before long, it is all gone. She narrates how she started low, on a salary of Kshs. 6,000 and it was enough for her rent, food, transport and all the other expenses. Apparently, she was also able to save! It all boils down to one thing: How much you earn is irrelevant, you can still live and save in Nairobi. One thing I can advise new graduates is this: Accept the days of humble beginning. Nobody begins as a CEO. Even one James Mworia, the CEO of Centum investments began as a Clerk Intern and rose through the ranks to become the company CEO. He is now earning more than Bob Bollycore, the Safaricom CEO. According to the 2015 returns, James Mworia average salary (plus Bonuses) comes to 16 Million shillings, compared to Bob Collymore 10 Million shillings. […] Read More
